A report-native editor, designed to your standard

A report is made of pages. You choose a paper size and orientation, then place elements with per-page control over margins, grids, and guides to keep alignment consistent. The editor opens in continuous-scroll view, so a multi-page report reads as one flowing document; switch to a page-by-page view when you want to focus.

Master pages hold the elements that repeat (headers, footers, running page numbers, background marks) so a change to the master updates every page that uses it. Text can flow across page boundaries, and long content paginates automatically instead of overflowing a single page.

Tables can be bound directly to your data, so their rows come from a live source rather than a paste that goes stale. A table's data can flow across multiple pages automatically, and you can sort and filter without changing the underlying source.

Rahoto is built to explore and design enterprise-scale tables within clear, visible limits. Very large datasets render up to a visible cap: past it you see a "showing first N of M rows" banner rather than a freeze or a silent cut. For larger datasets, narrow at the source (a SQL WHERE clause or a dataflow step) before you design against them.

Start from around 80 chart templates and bind each one to your data. Charts are not flat pictures: every mark, axis, legend, and label is individually selectable and editable, so you can adjust a single bar's colour, drag a data point, or restyle an axis inline. Edits persist with the report, and multiple people can work on the same chart together.

For large datasets, a GPU render path lets you explore and interact with up to 200,000 points: pan, zoom, hover and select across the full dataset. Individual per-mark editing is intended for up to about 1,000 editable marks; beyond that, marks are drawn and hit-tested on the GPU rather than individually hand-edited. In short: explore and interact with 200K on the GPU, design up to roughly 1K editable marks.

Text in Rahoto gets real typographic control from an advanced text-layout engine, not just styled boxes, so your reports read like considered documents. You work with proper type styles, weights, and spacing, and can define reusable text styles that keep headings and body copy consistent across a report.

A brand kit holds your colours, fonts, and styles in one place and applies them across reports, so a team can design to a single standard without rebuilding it every time. Update the kit and the reports that use it follow, so the standard scales with your team instead of living in one person's head.

Add images and vector shapes to build out layouts, callouts, and diagrams. Shapes support real vector editing so you can compose your own marks, and images sit alongside your data-bound elements as part of the same document.

Every element lives on a page you can organise with a layers system, and you can group elements, including nested groups, to move and manage them as a unit. A full undo and redo history covers your edits, so you can experiment freely and step back when something is not right.
